The Philadelphia Eagles have made some exciting moves during the 2023 NFL Draft, adding yet another weapon to their already potent offense. The team's general manager, Howie Roseman, has been busy mining for football gold and using future assets to build a team for 2023 and beyond.
The Eagles first traded a 2024 third-round draft pick to Houston to select Kelee Ringo, a cornerback from Georgia. Ringo became the fifth player that the Eagles have selected from Georgia in the last two drafts, joining a group that includes some impressive defensive players.
But the real star of the show is the Eagles' acquisition of D'Andre Swift, a Philadelphia native and former Georgia Bulldog. Roseman sent a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a swap of seventh-round picks in 2023 to Detroit to acquire the versatile running back.
Swift is an explosive player who can create favorable matchups on the field. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry in his three NFL seasons and has caught 156 passes in his time with Detroit. He adds another dimension to the Eagles' running back room, which already includes some talented players like Kenny Gainwell, Rashaad Penny, Boston Scott, and Trey Sermon.
"We liked our running backs. We didn't go into the draft feeling like this was a position that we had to have. But we felt like this player was somebody who really adds to our culture and adds to our team," said Roseman.
The Eagles' offense is looking to be in great shape for the upcoming season, with a talented lineman in Tyler Steen added in the third round of the draft and the acquisition of Swift, a home-run threat who can break the game open with his big-play ability. This is great news for Philadelphia Eagles fans and football fans alike.
